Bush walking is for everyone and every body!

Whether you’re hoping to skip town for your first walking trip or planning something longer, escaping the city for a dose of nature is high on many wish lists.

But sometimes it’s intimidating to know where to start – which tracks to choose, what gear to take, what to expect as a first-timer.

Never fear, your teacher Clare has absolutely been in your shoes (sneakers, to be precise, cos you don’t actually need hiking boots every time).

Come and enjoy a class that genuinely supports every body, every fitness/ability/comfort level, and every degree of experience or aspiration.

We will cover all the basics (plus the things you’ve never even thought of) to get out bush walking with confidence and pride.

What will we cover?

Clare will share her tried and tested tips and tricks. Topics will include:

  • Solo and group walking
  • Tracks in Victoria
  • Different terrain and different comfort levels
  • Gear – the necessities and safe make-dos
  • How to be an environmentally thoughtful walker

      Who will be teaching?

Clare (she/her) is a wonderful combination of the practical (knot tying), the crafty (yarns and knitting), the realistic (sweary clay xmas decorations), and the active! She’s stepped into bushwalking through a fabulous and fun group Escaping Your Comfort Zone – a body positive adventure community.

The group is proudly showing that all people in all bodies belong in the outdoors – you do not have to have a “certain” body to be outdoorsy or adventurous. In fact you simply need a body.  You do not have to go far or go fast to be adventurous.  You simply need to go.
