What’s It All about?

We think we know how people speak – until we try to write it! There are
traps for the unwary… In this session you will refine your ability to hear how different people speak and to replicate those patterns in writing.

What will we cover?

Dialogue is one of the prime ways of ‘showing’ instead of ‘telling’, so it’s an important skill to master. It reveals information about the speaker and keeps the story moving.

In this session you will work through numerous guided exercises to practise the arts of natural dialogue and how many ‘action beats’ are necessary to accompany that dialogue.

What to bring

  • A notebook and pen are ideal, or your device if that’s your preference.

Accessibility
