What’s it all about?
Painting birds with watercolours, wildlife artist Marloes will guide you through the steps and methods of applying and manipulating these mediums, exploring and explaining tricks and tips to get awesome realistic (and sometimes not so realistic) effects. This is hands on session that will guide you through various techniques, learning about creating depth, light and dimension, it’s fun and a great way to start your journey in to watercolour as a medium.
What will we cover?
- Introduction to the various watercolour mediums
- An overview of each medium’s properties
- Application methods – including wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry
- Appropriate papers and brushes
- Touching on layering, glazes and colour correction
What will you need?
- Reference Picture – recommend a print at the size you wish to paint – recommend 1x p=black & white for tonal values, 2x colour version.
- Watercolour paper
- Watercolours pencils and/or paints
- Pencil & pencil sharpener
- Clean brushes
- Water for washing brushes
Who will be teaching?
Marloes Bakker-Marsden is a self taught artist who has been exploring the world of art since childhood, her current art practice is mostly focused on drawing and painting wildlife (and rocks). She teaches a across a variety of mediums at community centres, retirement communities and other locations, including in her own studio space, sharing her skills and passions with others in a light hearted and fun way that makes the experience totally enjoyable and rewarding for everyone involved.
