Have you always wanted to learn how to design and create your own clothes – here’s your chance!

In this pattern making class, you will draft a basic skirt block based on your own body measurements. This class is perfect for total beginners who want to start learning flat pattern making!

You’ll walk away with a new understanding of how a 2D pattern can be transferred into 3D fabric form as well as a personalised pattern for your own skirt!

What we will cover?

  • Introduction of basic pattern making
  • How to transfer measurements to a skirt pattern 
  • Understand the magic of darts in shaping and creating volume

Who will be teaching?

Vivian Qiu (she/her) is a sentimental jewellery designer. She holds a Bachelor (Honours) degree in Fashion Design in RMIT. Her jewellery practice focuses on reflective designing based on emotions, stories, and memories. 

She explores a variety of non-traditional materials in her practice, including rice fabric created by herself, recycled electrical wires, treated fabric and so on.

She has been running creative hands-on workshops since 2015. She has worked with Signal, City of Melbourne, Geelong Wool Museum, and Immigration Museum. You can follow her on Instagram.
