Have you ever heard someone say that artists are technologists? No? This class explores the general tomfoolery sometimes bizarre crossover between machines and art.
What will we cover?
In this class we will delve into the ways that machines and mechanical process have been used by artists and creatives. We will explore the engineering, science, technology and manufacturing that go into some wild and whimsical artworks. We will look at people who use paintballs, confetti, concrete, water and even fire. Come along and explore what all this means. You don’t even need to wear safety gear.
Who will be teaching?
Kieran Stewart is a Melbourne based maker and visual artist. His works incorporate humour and a wide range construction and building techniques that are as part of a multi-disciplinary arts practice.
Kieran also has a background as an art theory and gallery skills teacher at Victoria University. Over the past eleven years he has exhibited his work across Australia as well as participating in multiple artist in residence programs within institutions and community organizations.
