This queer social is a safe, judgement free experimental space for the queer, trans and gender diverse community, facilitated by a nonbinary disabled POC artist Acanthus (Anther) Low.
Graphic liner is a bold artistic way to express yourself with interesting shapes and patterns. You may have seen these bold lines on the makeup used in shows like Euphoria High, editorial magazines, and all over Instagram and Pinterest.
You can paint varieties of looks to wear to festivals, events, or go for a subtle pop in a casual look. When using water-activated eyeliners, you can achieve very vivid striking looks in just a few strokes. This is a beginner-friendly class, welcoming of people who have never worn makeup, but also experienced makeup users who are interested in branching out to try graphic liner as a new type of product.
Materials will be provided, with some to take home. We will be sterilizing everyone’s brushes after they are used on skin, before it touches the communal palettes.
Important notes:

Makeup remover and cotton wipes will be available should you prefer to remove the eyeliner before leaving the class, as we know not all environments we return to are safe to express yourself as you’d like.

The facilitator may take photos of faces, but only for those who opt-in after being asked during the class.
What will we cover?

finding out what areas of application will work best with your unique eyelids, brow bone, and eyewear (yes even if you wear glasses!)

drawing on paper templates with markers to plan our looks

practicing using water-activated eyeliner on your hand and arms

applying on a look on your own face to walk out of the class looking glam with
WHAT TO BRING:
You are welcome to bring your own eyeshadow if you have it, but it will be messy to clean up beginner’s mistakes around the eyeshadow, so its recommended to only apply at the end. We encourage bringing a light facial moisturizer, as repeated removal of the makeup as you correct mistakes may feel irritating to your face. Applying moisturizer before application acts as a barrier.

Who will be Teaching?
Acanthus (Anther) Oria Low [they/them] is a collector of hobbies and a small-space suburban keeper of many species of unconventional animals, and chronic pain fighter. They are a foster carer for the Rabbit Sanctuary and are passionate about sharing environmentally friendly, low or no cost enrichment for animals.
Anther has dabbled in editorial makeup, cosplay, digital design, dungeons and dragons, and so so many crafts. Find them and their animals on Instagram.
