What’s it all about?
Working with sourdough has a reputation for being complicated, slow and slightly obsessive. But it doesn’t have to be. In this relaxed hands-on class you’ll learn how to use sourdough starter to make simple flatbreads without the need for fancy equipment or bakery-level skills.
If you’ve been curious about sourdough but put off by the idea of babysitting sticky loaves over days, this class will show you a much easier way in.
What will we cover?
In this practical 75-minute session we’ll explore how sourdough works and why it can improve flavour and digestibility. During the class we will:
– Learn the basics of sourdough fermentation and starter care
– See how to mix a simple sourdough flatbread dough
– Roll out and cook flatbreads together
– Taste freshly cooked flatbreads
– Explore ways to customise flatbreads with different flours and flavours
Everyone will get hands-on rolling and cooking their own breads, and will take home some sourdough starter so they can keep experimenting.
Please bring a small jar or plastic container for your sourdough starter.
