What’s it all about?

Remember beaten up sketchbooks filled with drawings of places visited, notes scrawled on the side? Urban sketching is an exciting art form that is about creating personal artworks on location in cities, towns and villages that you live in or travel to. And then sharing it!

In this art class we will learn about urban sketching and put pencil to paper to draw our favourite places.

What we will cover?

We’ll start this sketching workshop with an introduction to what urban sketching is about. We will hear about some of the teacher’s personal experiences with it, as well as examples, resources and communities for this exciting field.

After that we will get into the exciting part – creating our very own urban sketches. We won’t be on location but will draw from photos, so we will be technically cheating, but hey, it’s a taster to get you started!

Please bring some images of places that you would like to draw, perhaps a holiday photo, your house or your favourite Melbourne landmark.
