What’s it all about?

Come and learn some easy delicious recipes that you can easily cook yourself! In this series of cooking workshops, we will learn staple and traditional recipes from international students living
in Melbourne. These have been thought out to be simple enough to cook yourself and they are just delicious.

This time we are learning about Zimbabwe and its cuisine with Ruva, who will show us how to make Sadza and Beef Relish, colloquially known as ‘Haifiridzi’.

Optional: We are shopping some of the ingredients for
the cooking class together at the Victoria Market!If you want to join us
be at the door of the Multicultural Hub at 11am on the day of the
class.

This class suits absolute beginners.

What will we cover?

In this class, Ruva will introduce you to the heart of Zimbabwean cuisine by teaching you how to prepare Sadza, the
beloved staple food of Zimbabwe, along with a flavorful Beef Relish.

You’ll learn the traditional techniques for making Sadza, which is a thick porridge made from white maize meal, and
discover how to create a rich, savory relish that perfectly complements it.

Who will be teaching?

Ruvarashe Mandizha is an international student from Zimbabwe who has been living in Melbourne for over two years. A
passionate foodie with a love for cooking, Ruva enjoys exploring diverse culinary traditions and sharing the
flavors of her homeland with others.

Growing up in Zimbabwe, Ruva was immersed in the rich culinary culture of her country, and she brings this experience
and enthusiasm to her cooking classes. Through her warm and engaging teaching style, Ruva aims to connect people
with Zimbabwean cuisine, celebrating the community and comfort that comes with every meal.
