City Art Space

City Art is a lovely ground level space located just in front of the Queen Victoria Market!  

Laneway Learning runs classes Monday to Thursday in Shop 1B and our community runs all sorts of workshops and adventures (see below)

City Art is also available for hire for creative related activities.

Venue Hire

Organising a workshop or a lecture in the CBD? Looking for a space for a hen’s day or a birthday party? Or maybe you want a space to practice music or art. 

Located next to the beautiful Queen Victoria Market, this space is well connected (trams at the door) has great street visibility and a lovely climatised glass atrium.

Size: 7m x 5m. Two bathrooms and sink available on premises.
Capacity: Up to 30 people seated at tables, 45 people theatre style, or 60 people standing.
Layout: Chairs and tables can be easily moved to give any layout.
AV and equipment hire: Projector, speakers, whiteboard and other equipment can be hired.
Accessibility: Ramp available to access space. Wheelchair accessible bathroom located at Multicultural Hub.
Public transport: Closest train station is Melbourne Central Station, all trams through Elizabeth St.
Parking: Street parking is available next to the Victoria Market .

We can also arrange a private or corporate event for you, tailored to suit your needs.

Cost

Community use/NFP:

  • Half day (4 hours 9am-1pm/ 1pm-5pm) – $75 excluding GST
  • Full day – $130 excluding GST

Commercial use:

  • $35 per hour excluding GST
  • Special prices for our teachers (contact us for more information)
  • AV rental: speakers $20 and projector $40 (plus a refundable security deposit)
  • Key and cleaning deposit: $50 (fully refundable if the venue is left clean and tidy)
