Our Philosophy
There are three things that define what we try to do:
- Laneway Learning is accessible and inclusive
We offer one-off introductions to topics, no prior knowledge needed! Our classes are also very affordable, within the means of most people. Everyone is welcomed and inclusion is always in our mind. - Laneway Learning is about community
Our teachers all come from the local community, often local small-business owners or amateur enthusiasts. We also love collaborating with local businesses and organisations for running our classes, putting on special events and participating in festivals. - Laneway Learning is surprising
We want our classes to surprise and engage people; the more unusual, fun and interactive the better. This goes for our venues too, we utilise unused or unexpected spaces.
We are committed to providing interactive, entertaining and affordable classes, making education another form of entertainment. We bring education outside of traditional learning spaces, making it a peer-to-peer experience.
Teachers are from the community; experts, business owners or passionate amateurs alike. The Laneway Learning community is made up of people from all different walks of life. We love to see people interacting with each other and breaking down social barriers through learning.
Our Mission
Laneway Learning is a not-for-profit organisation that delivers accessible, fun, and interactive lifelong learning experiences to our whole community.
We are committed to providing interactive, entertaining and affordable classes in anything and everything. We believe that everyone should have the chance to learn and to share their skills and knowledge. Our goal is to provide great classes, without the hefty price tag.
We source our teachers from the community; experts, business owners or passionate amateurs alike, all with a desire to communicate knowledge or skills to each other. As well as creating a community, we love to give back and often host free classes or even all-day events.
We care about accessibility, urban integration and sustainability. We tailor our classes to a wide audience, utilising unused or unexpected venues, and are always looking for ways to reduce our carbon footprint – and help our community do the same!
