What’s it all about?

The greatest part of the movie “Inside Out” is the adventure that is going on inside Riley’s head. The film uses creative representations of the mechanisms in the brain which Riley’s emotions must overcome. We will explore these representations, where they succeed, where they fail and where they have been tackled in the history of neuroscience and philosophy of the mind.

What will we cover?

We will examine some of the ideas from Inside Out, including:

  • The ideas represented in Inside Out (there will be spoilers).
  • Do we have little people inside our head?
  • What are core memories?
  • How are memories stored within the brain?
  • How do emotions influence our memories and decision-making?
