What’s it about?

Using soft grass, colourful wool and some big buttons you can create anything from a small grass lizard to a mighty pair of buffalo horns, the possibilities are endless! Be ready for a fun and playful workshop.

What will we cover?

In this class we will be using our hands, sitting and talking, sharing ideas and knowledge to create fun bush toys. We will be taught about the grass collecting and preparing process and a simple wrapping and sculpting technique. Add some stitched-on buttons for eyes and you’ll be done!

Please note that this class does use a lot of hay! If you have an allergy it might be a good idea to bring along some antihistamine just in case, or drop us a line if you’re concerned.

Who will be teaching?

Adrienne Kneebone has lived in the Northern Territory since 1995 where she became interested in fibre art. She has been working with indigenous women for the past four years coordinating a community based initiative called The Pandanus Project. Adrienne combines traditional techniques with contemporary concepts to create exquisite forms and has relocated to Victoria where she is passionate about sharing her knowledge and experience.
