What’s it all about?

Painting anatomy is about learning how to compose the human body with watercolour marks; creating the volume, light and weight of the body from a real model who will pose for you. In this workshop you will open your eyes to learn how to see the plasticity and the colour palette that the anatomy of the human body offers.

What will we cover?

The class starts with an initial briefing about how to observe the human body as material and colour, discovering how to later re-create the body in paper. Then, we will follow with some examples about painting sketches from a variety of artists. Participants will develop the use of watercolours to design and compose the human body from a real model. You will also use pencils and watercolours to find your own artistic expression, sketching several poses with the model. Our goal is to learn how to observe and create our personal composition with its own rhythms and balance.
