Not only is watercolour painting a super pretty art form – it’s also really meditive and brings out all those nice, calm feels.

This beginners watercolour class is perfect for both people that have never picked up a brush and those who make art on the regular.

Artist and educator, Emilie, will take you through a series of painting exercises that will involve taking inspo from flowers and leaves to create a series of watercolour images.

Join Emilie and delsi for the 3rd installment of Laneway Learning & Unicorns collab event – QUEER SOCIAL!

This event will be half social fun times with a bunch of like minded queer people and half super cute workshop times!

Each fortnight we will hang out and learn a new skill – from Sex Toys to Money Management to queer inspired Arts & Crafts.

What will we cover?

This is an online workshop where you will create a series of watercolour images.

You’ll explore:

      • How to use watercolours and illustration to create images
      • Playing with drawing and composition
      • Watercolour basics through a playful approach
      • How to create a watercolour nature inspired illustration!

What will I need

  • Watercolour paints (can get from Coles or click & collect from Officeworks)
  • Paper (watercolour paper is best)
  • Brushes

    Who will be Facilitating? 

    Emilie (she/her) is a Melbourne based artist and maker who moved from France in 2014.  

    Her illustrations have been published by the Lifted Brow, and she self-published her first graphic novel in 2018 with Tree Paper Comics in Melbourne.

    When she isn’t teaching with Laneway Learning, Emilie works with a range of media, from video to printmaking, 3D printing and a variety of paint mediums. Emilie is currently finishing her PhD at the VCA (Victorian College of the Arts, University of Melbourne).

    delsi (she/her) is a proud queer femme lady who loves nothing more than snuggling with her cat whilst making cute stitching art.

    delsi is an ex-highschool teacher turned LGBTQIA+ Inclusion Trainer, Director of the LGBTQIA+ party org Unicorns, Marriage Celebrant and Manager here at Laneway Learning.

    She also loves the colour pink, eco-gitter, documentaries, reality TV dating shows, latex outfits and disco!
