What’s it all about?

Did you know there are over 13,000 beekeepers in Victoria? The majority of these are recreational bee keepers running 1 or 2 hives enjoying the pollination, honey and wax that their girls create.

You can keep bees in your backyard* but it’s best to be fully aware of what you are taking on before you start.

Come and join Jen – an urban beekeeper – to run you through the ins and outs of keeping bees in suburban settings.

What will we cover?

In this class we’ll cover:

  • Why beekeeping is soooo interesting
  • The regulations – yes there are rules*
  • The costs.
  • The commitment – time, effort, responsibilities
  • Bring along any questions you have!

Accessibility

  • Wheelchair accessible venue
  • Gender neutral bathrooms
  • Discounted Early Bird Tickets
  • Free Tickets for First Nation Attendees
  • Auslan Interpreters Upon Request

Who will be teaching?

Jennifer McInnes (she/her) is an unashamed foodie and has been running her own food business for over 20 years. She is very keen to encourage participants to get creative in their own kitchens!

For the past 10 years Jen has also been a recreational beekeeper and is still fascinated by bees!
