What’s it all about?
Feeling frazzled and need to take a chill pill but “don’t have time” to meditate? Know how to knit?
This class could be just what you need to help unlock your inner calm and perhaps finally finish that knitting project! Not your regular ‘ommm’ class, in this meditation lesson we will look at how you can use craft – in this case knitting – as a tool to help calm that noisy, non-stop chatter in our brains. You will also be introduced to some crafty ways you can work spot meditations into your regular day-to-day activities so you can take that chill pill anytime you need to.
What will we cover?
We are going to look at how we can use knitting as a mindfulness meditation tool to help focus and centre our minds.
During the lesson you can expect to;
- be lead in a guided knitting meditation
- learn some 5 minute spot meditation techniques
- be shown some stretches to look after your knitters hands
- get a bit more of that unfinished project knocked off
You will only need a very basic knowledge of how to knit to participate. You don’t even need to know how to purl. In fact the simpler the stitch you are using the better! The class is based on using knitting but anyone who crochets is most welcome as the same principal applies. If this sounds like a class you’d like to come along to but don’t know how to knit, you could try the link below to get the mad skills you need, or look for something similar on YouTube.
You are welcome to bring an existing project to the class, otherwise there will be some simple patterns available on the night to suit 4mm needles / 8ply 100% wool.
Who will be teaching?
Your Zen guide for this class is Samantha Harvey, a recent convert to meditation who, having recently completed a course in Meditation and Holistic Counselling, is now on a mission to teach others how amazing meditation is and how greatly we can benefit from it. Samantha is also a novice knitter and hopes that during this class she will get that scarf finished. Finally.
