What’s it all about?

Do you see sign language interpreters on the news and want to know what it’s all about? Learn about facial expressions, lip reading, why sign language isn’t just pointing at things and gesticulating, and find out why you don’t want to mess up state-specific signs.

What will we cover?

  • Fingerspelling (the alphabet) and numbers
  • Greetings and introductions
  • Basic questions and answers

By the end of the class, you will be able to fingerspell your name and introduce yourself.

Who will be teaching?

In response to the lack of affordable sign language education available for young people, Helen created Auslan For Young People In Melbourne, as a safe space for young people to practice sign language at no cost.
