What’s it all about?
Ever wanted to learn embroidery? This is the perfect time. Join us for a fun workshop and learn how to do the basics embroidery stitches such as running stitch, french knots and others. Then we’ll start an easy but stunning project by creating an embroidered constellation of your choice, using a variety of simple stitches.
What will we cover?
In this workshop, you will get an overview on basic essentials such as how to set your hoop, where to get the materials, how to thread your needle and also learn the basics of embroidery. We will also cover the tips and tricks to ensure your finished piece looks amazing.
What will you need?
- Cotton/linen fabric would be great for beginners
- Embroidery hoop – any size they have
- Stranded cotton embroidery floss (6 strands) https://www.spotlightstores.com/craft-hobbies/yarn-needle-art/embroidery-needle-craft/needlework-threads/dmc-stranded-cotton-thread-colour-ranges-200-299/BP80121867018
- Embroidery needles https://www.spotlightstores.com/sewing-fabrics/haberdashery/needles/dmc-embroidery-needle/BP80383542. If you don’t have any, normal needles would do.
- Embroidery scissors (normal scissors would be fine)
- Constellation shape
- Tracing/carbon paper (if you don’t have this, using the window or freestyle hand drawing is fine)
- Pencil
Who will be Teaching?
Natalia of Kisah Kasih Embroidery is a self-taught embroidery artist and also a lover of all things textile and sparkling beads. She recently was awarded as an Emerging Maker by Love Handmade Australia. Aside for her love of crafts and embroidery, she also loves teaching and meeting new people.
