What’s it all about?

Stories are an integral part of society. We use them to entertain each other, to share information, to remember things and to influence people. Stories are also a great way to connect with people and show who we are.

We are going to learn how to create a personal story to share with others.

What will we cover?

In this beginners’ storytelling workshop we will:

  • Introduce the ‘Magic Mirror’ storytelling technique
  • Develop personal stories from our pasts
  • Tell our stories in pairs going through several rounds
  • Use specific questions in group work to develop the stories and add more detail with each narration.

Who will be teaching?

Lana Woolf is an artist who weaves together the myth, history and biography of her life in epic narrative form through storytelling, poetry and multimedia arts. She loves to get other people talking too! She hosts conference sessions, workshops, book clubs, radio shows and book launches. She is is passionate about teaching poetry and storytelling and is the Creative Director of Sparking Change, a Australia based organisation that uses story work for social change.
