What’s it all about?

Take a walk with us at dusk and learn which plants under your feet can be eaten!

Lots of the common weeds around Melbourne can be eaten and you’ll be surprised at the variety of flavours and textures that are out there.

What will we cover?

During this outdoor class, we will learn which common plants that occur around Melbourne are edible, how to identify them, when to eat them, and how to prepare them.

We will take a tour through CERES Environment Park and the Merri Creek in Brunswick East – using the ground around us as our new supermarket!

This edible walk will also include samples of some food prepared with weeds for your enjoyment!

Who will be teaching?

Monique describes herself as a permie (that’s short of permaculture nerd), fermenter, forager, rewilder, moon worshipper, and compulsive gardener. In October 2016 she moved out to the Yarra Ranges to play intern at two market gardens. Passionate about DIY, connecting with long forgotten crafts, reducing waste, and dependency on ‘the system’, Monique often finds herself elbow-deep in either compost, soil, preserves or ferments. She really likes to teach people about these things too!
