What’s it all about?

Learn the basics of Mirror (Sheesha) work embroidery from the Kutch region of India. Traditionally mirror work was used to ward off evil
spirits and bad luck away from homes and the wearer! This embroidery is fun, playful and bright!

In this class we will learn various stitches and techniques on cotton fabrics. You will create a sample that can be framed, used as a
patch or can become part of a bigger project.

All materials will be provided.

A basic sewing skill can be helpful but not necessary as the stitches are simple and easy to follow.

What will we cover?

In this hands on class Manjari will cover:

  • History of Sheesha embroidery
  • Different stitches, motifs, and fabrics
  • Sewing basics
  • Sewing your own piece of Sheesha mirror work!
