What’s it all about?

The profile of behavioural economics is increasing. This means that economists, policy makers, and marketers accept that people do not always behave in a completely logical and rational fashion.

So how are we illogical and irrational? More importantly, what can we do about it? These are the questions that behavioural economics addresses.

What will we cover?

In this class we’ll cover some basics and find out why and how people tend to behave in irrational but entirely predictable ways, and we’ll look at how knowledge of this is used to influence your decision-making every day. When you are faced with decisions to make you’ll be better equipped to make the ‘right’ one.

Who will be teaching?

Michael Hardiman is a consultant specialising in market forecasting using macroeconomics and behavioural science. He has worked in banking and funds management and more recently he was a consultant within a global marketing services company engaged in using consumer profiling and demographic factors to help drive sales for many of Australia’s best known brands.
