Return to basics, get grounded and channel the freedoms of your inner child again with another of Robert’s expressive and hands-on painting classes.
This time we’ll be working with acrylic paints and other materials to create textured and tactile painted collages. You could incorporate fabrics or images, magazine cuttings or text into your painting.
There’ll also be a variety of tools to use to apply your paints, you can even use your hands for layering up your art work!
This art class is for everyone. It focuses far more on your own experience of making your artwork, reclaiming painting if you haven’t done it for a while, and less about a finished masterpiece. So long as you enjoy yourself along the way.
All materials are provided, though if you have any favourite ‘things’ you’d like to incorporate into your piece, please bring it along!
What will we cover?
In this fun, hands on workshop you will learn how to:
- Work using acrylic paints
- How to paint with palette knives
- How to layer your paint and your materials
- Working with materials other than paint
- You’ll leave with your own unique painting!
Please have a think about how to transport your artwork home safely.

Who will be teaching?
Robert (he/they) is a queer engineer. They clearly don’t express enough creativity in their day job, so by night goes by their alter ego ‘ART FIEND’.
Robert believes that art is for everyone and focuses value on the process more than the outcome. As well as different sorts of hands-on painting, Robert also loves sewing as its tactile nature is really good for mental health and de-stressing. You can follow Robert’s artistic pursuits on Insta.
