Now that warmer weather is approaching, and the last few years have held us a little too close to home, it’s the perfect time immerse ourselves in natural environments outside Melbourne.

Perhaps you have enjoyed walking in your neighbourhood but would like to stretch your horizons?  

If you have been unsure where to start and how to prepare for bushwalking, this class is for you!  

While many dollars can be spent on gearing up for bushwalking, it need not be an expensive pastime and can provide years of enjoyment for all ages.

What will we cover?

  • How to identify suitable overnight walks to start with and expand your bushwalking repertoire
  • What equipment you need to purchase or borrow to have a safe and enjoyable overnight hike
  • Introduction to bushwalking clubs

    Who will be teaching? 

    Darren (he/him) is an experienced walks leader with the Essendon Bushwalking Club and Victorian National Parks Association. 

    Darren has led one day bushwalks in Victoria and Tasmania. He has also taken groups on multi-day hikes such as the Overland Track, Fraser Island, Great Ocean Walk, Grampians Gariwerd National Park, Beeripmo Track and Wilson’s Promontory National Park.  

    A passionate environmentalist, Darren looks forward to sharing the joys of walking in Australia’s wonderful bushland with laneway learners!
