What is it about?

It is estimated that 12% of the English language vocabulary is of Greek origin. If you are a physician or a mathematician, chances are you already know some Greek.

But even if you just love the theatre, philosophy, astronomy, zoology, politics, ecology or astronomy, come find out where all these words originate from, and learn some basic survival Greek for the taverna on the Greek islands!

What will we cover?

You will learn

  • the beautiful script of the Greek alphabet,
  • greetings,
  • numbers up to ten,
  • basic communication vocabulary for your Greek islands hopping, and
  • a secret recipe for mousaka and tzatziki…

Who will be teaching it?

pankagaliPanagiota has been in Melbourne for less than a year and hasn’t been in touch yet with the infamous Greek Community. Instead, she would rather meet Melbournians who are interested in exploring the rich and vibrant Greek culture, from poetry to philosophy and politics, music and dancing and of course… cooking! She studied English Literature at the University of Athens, has travelled the world, and since she relocated to Australia she is rediscovering what it means to be Greek and European.
