Have you ever been let down by Indian takeout because the flavours didn’t quite hit your palate the way they should have? Does preparing Indian food for the first time feel intimidating? Intricate? Requiring far too many spices!?

Your teacher Shalome knows how you feel – she’s been there too. Craving home-style Indian cooking during Melbourne’s pandemic led to Shalome to roll up her sleeves and get her hands dirty in the kitchen, learning and perfecting new dishes on the regular via video call with her mother (the best cook Shalome knows!).

These are tried and tested recipes and Indian cooking know-how, passed down from mother to daughter. And now Shalome’s ready to run you through some favourite dishes, with some special tips and cooking secrets too

Who will be teaching?

Shalome (she/her) was  raised in Mumbai before moving to Melbourne as a graduate student. She made the decision to learn all the techniques for preparing some of the most delectable Indian meals because she was so far from her mother’s cooking.

She was once a newbie but now throws sizeable dinner parties, so she understands how simple it is to learn via video calls. She wants you to know that if you have a few basic ingredients and perhaps a few spices in your pantry, it is one of the easiest cuisines to learn.
