What’s it all about?
Toma Tequila, simply put, means take or drink tequila, and you are invited to do exactly that!
Tequila is one of the most misunderstood spirits going around and this class aims to dispel a few misconceptions, and celebrate the beauty of tequila, it’s refreshing, delicate qualities and rich history.
What will we cover?
The class will cover a brief history of tequila and a snapshot of an industry that still harvests its raw material the same way they did centuries ago. We will also discuss the different categories of tequila (eg. 51% agave vs 100% agave tequilas), the difference in characteristics between the major regions and we’ll finish with a tasting of 100% agave blanco, reposado and anejo tequilas.
Who will be teaching?
James Sherry is one of the co-founders of Tequila Tromba, an independent label produced in the highlands of Jalisco. As a Melbournian who fell in love with tequila during his travels to Mexico, James helped start Tromba with a view to sharing his passion for tequila with others and is now at the forefront of tequila education in Australia.
