What’s it all about?

Clockwork, gears, steam powered riffles and tea dispenser machines, goggles, Zeppelins, bustles and corsets…

Steampunk is a science fiction genre that focuses on anachronistic technology in Victorian and Western eras (think ray guns, computers, mobile phones and flying machines all powered by steam and built with brass, copper, leather…), mixed with alternate history or post-apocalyptic worlds. Heavily influenced by the works of Jules Verne and H.G Wells, steampunk is becoming a trend not only in literature but fashion, music and house decor. This class will tell you what it is all about.

What will we cover?

This class will cover:

  • What is steampunk, its beginnings, styles and symbols
