I’m super excited, I’ve been looking forward to the Science Spectacular all week! It’s so much fun, I’m learning so much. And it’s a really cool thing to do on a Sunday afternoon – it’s amazing!

Today’s event was really exciting, there was all sorts of fascinating little experiments you could go and do – very hands on. There was this awesome one with uh, it’s called a Van de Graaff machine, which basically is like this old machine that you put your hands on, electricity runs through it and your hair stands up. It’s really fun.

So today I’ve been scanning for Laneway Learning, I’ve scanned about 40 people I think. And this is what we end up with! This is a print that’s happening at the moment. I get a real kick out of explaining to people how 3D printing works and the science behind it.

I really enjoyed showing people some of the insects that I brought along today. And some really interesting people talking about some of the really important species that we’ve got and that we need in our environment. Just seeing everyone having a really good time!

I liked the astronaut presentation. He got us to do a little workshop to see how we thought when we were operating under pressure. 3D printing of ourselves and our bodies – that was interesting. And the chili tasting.

It was all a lot of fun. I came with my five-year-old son and his favourite was the animation.

It was really fun to come today and show the kids some fun science experiments and some cool things they could do. They got to do some chromatography and some acids and bases – mixing together – it was great fun.

To be able to share a little bit of the science behind these things and to see people just connect with the ideas and then talk about how they’re going to apply them in their own life – I think that’s what really gives me a thrill.

What I enjoyed most about the course was that I was able to talk to an expert in the field and have some questions that I’d wondered about the universe answered. So it was really good.

So I’ve just finished running a workshop here for Laneway Learning’s Science Spectacular. It’s been fantastic, we have so many excited people coming in, asking questions, being involved with the workshops, running science experiments. It’s been an amazing afternoon
