What’s it all about?
Do you find that every other thing you pull out of your drawers has a hole in it? Or perhaps you just ripped your favourite pair of jeans and walking around with your undies on show really isn’t your style?
We all have items of clothing that don’t get worn for or reason or another. Rather than adding to the huge pile of textiles that end up in landfill each year, pick up a needle and thread. With a few basic skills, you can have those clothes out of the drawer and back in fashion. So come along and learn how to give your clothes some much needed TLC.
What will we cover?
We will cover the basics you need to mend your clothes, saving you cash and shopping-based traumas. Including how to:
- Use a needle and thread
- Sew on buttons
- Close up holes
- Mend pockets
- Fix seams
After that we will follow demand depending on time so who knows what else we’ll learn?! So, rifle and rummage through your wardrobe for those sorry looking items and bring them along to class. Your backside need never be exposed again.
Bring an item or two that needs mending and thread to match (along with your sewing kit if you have one) – if you don’t have any of these, no stress! Basics will be provided.
Who will be teaching?
Lucie Bradley learnt to sew as a young girl. She has been known to sit through boring seminars and train journeys patching up her clothes and would love to help you do the same. If her face looks familiar it’s because she is also one of the Laneway Learning Team.
