What’s it all about?
Aquaponics is an alternative form of organic gardening which allows plants and fish to exist in a symbiotic relationship, each helping the other to thrive. This amazing system allows you to grow herbs, vegetables, flowers and fish in urban environments whilst avoiding many of the challenges of traditional farming like watering, weeding, fertilising, and soil. You can nurture a small bench top box or larger units – all the way up to commercial farms.
What will we cover?
This workshop will teach you the principles of aquaponics and how to establish and maintain your own system.
We will cover the process of aquaponics and its many fascinating aspects, including an overview of how you to establish your own system, starting from scratch – you’ll learn everything you need to know to have your own thriving aquaponic garden.
Who will be teaching?
Tobias Selkirk developed a passion for aquaponics after losing many plants to inexperience and the punishing Australian summer. After completing an honours degree in Organic Chemistry, he went on to study Product Design Engineering, where he spent his final year developing a modular vertical aquaponics unit. In 2014 he founded Aqui Aquaponics to focus on the design and construction of custom aquaponics systems.
