What’s it all about?
In this class we will get our hands messy and create our own Halloween Jack o’Lantern. Learn the basics of designing, gutting and carving the pumpkin.
What will we cover?
We will run through a brief history of pumpkin carving and then get right into carving.
Carving will include taking the top off the pumpkin, taking out all the seeds (the “guts”) of the pumpkin, designing a face, carving and adding a tea candle for completion. There will be design ideas and templates on hand to help people create their own unique Jack o’lantern.
If you are bringing a pumpkin try to bring a small to medium sized orange one, like the ones in the featured image. You can get them this time of year at certain Coles, Woolworths and farmers markets.
Who will be teaching?
Michael Mink is a veteran carver from the U.S. He’s been carving pumpkins since he was 5 and never misses a chance to share the fun and enjoyment of pumpkin carving with others.
