What’s it all about?
Contemporary dance is the name given to a group of 20th century dance forms. It is a collection of systems and methods developed from modern and postmodern dance, even though it in itself is not a specific dance technique. In contemporary dance, people attempt to explore the natural energy and emotions of their bodies to produce dances which are often very personal.
What will we cover?
A class catered for individuals taking their first step into contemporary dance, we will go through the basic foundations of the dance form at a manageable level.
The class will begin with a short background of contemporary dance, followed by warm-up exercises and simple movements, ending with a short dance routine. It will focus on developing proper alignment of the body, control in movements, and freedom in body expression. Learn to express yourselves in movement!
Who will be teaching
Luke is a dancer of 6 years, mainly in the styles of contemporary and jazz. He finds himself lacking the swag in hip hop but is slowly stepping into that field. Being extremely passionate about dance, he squeezes time out of his busy schedule as a medical student to take to the floor, even if it is just to boogie in his room.
