What’s it all about?

Are you a two-for-one kind of person? Love cheese? Love great booze? Well this class is double the fun – with both cheesemaker Jaqueline Bender and wine maker/educator Clare Burder teaming up to teach a Laneway Learning special all about cheese and beverage matching.

What will we cover?

First you’ll get the basics on how cheese is made and the different types, followed by the low down on how to match it with your drink of choice. You’ll get to try three of Jaqueline’s cheeses and Clare will match them with three of her favourite drinks. It’ll be loads of fun with extra added cheese – who could possible disagree with that?

Who will be teaching?

JacJacqueline Bender is a self-taught cheesemaker. She makes a range of fresh, soft and semi-hard cheeses at her home, such as blues, surface ripened cheeses, halloumi, feta and of course mozzarella. She loves to spread the word that it’s possible to make great tasting cheese at home and teaches more advanced cheesemaking courses at Bee Sustainable in Brunswick East. She is also a bit of a sustainability all-rounder and writes about cheesemaking, keeping bees, brewing and baking on her blog – DIY Feast.

Clare Burder is the director and founder of Eminence Wines – a boutique wine label from the King Valley, and The Humble Tumbler – a small Melbourne based business focused on wine education and events. Clare’s speciality is teaching the basics of wine appreciation in an accessible, interactive and informative way, without all the fancy wine guff.
