Come and learn the skills to create your own stories, that can be viewed through that cute vintage creation of the View-Master!
Originally an alternative to scenic postcards, and way before the invention of virtual reality, they first showed stereoscopic images of tourist attractions and travel destinations.
Since they were introduced in 1939 there have been 25 different viewer models and every reel will work in every model.
View-Masters will be for sale at the class for $25 if you’d like to take one of those home with you!
What will we cover?
- How to design and make your own View-Master reel using old photo slides and/or drawings
- How to develop a short narrative
- How to play with colour and shapes.
- Time to view your art through our View-Masters
Who will be teaching?
Emilie (she/her) is a Melbourne based artist and maker, currently finishing her PhD at the Victorian College of the Arts. She moved from France and 2014 and has been developing her art practice since, working with a range of media, from video to printmaking and 3D printing.
Emilie is also a comic book artist. Her illustration has been published by the Lifted Brow, and she self-published her first graphic novel in 2018 with Tree Paper Comics in Melbourne.
