What’s it all about?

Have you ever been asked to design something? A birthday card, a sign for a lost pet or garage sale, a ‘do the washing up’ sign for housemates? Or perhaps you just want to find out more about what design is, or how designers think and solve problems?

This is a fun and informal class for non-designers to discover what it is all about and to practically explore the basic principles.

What will we cover?

Design is all around us. Street signs, labels, magazines, computer apps, websites, the list goes on. But, design is about much more than that! This beginners’ class will look at what design is and how it is relevant to many aspects of our daily life.

During the workshop we will look at design issues, discuss ideas, work together on problems and play with our ideas to try and produce practical solutions.

Who will be teaching?

Yaron is a professional designer, with twenty years commercial experience in the UK and Australia and recently completed his PhD. He has masters degrees in design from Central St Martins, London; in Public Art from RMIT; and a post-graduate diploma in print and publishing from the London College of Communication. Yaron believes that the process of design should be fun as well as functional.
