What’s it all about?

Do you know someone who is expecting a bub and would love a handmade baby blanket? Maybe your cat is your bub and deserves a little TLC! Or perhaps you fancy getting crafty, by quilting and making something unique.

Learn to design your own beautiful, modern quilt! These designs can be made from simple shapes or blocks. In this workshop, you will create three quilt designs using the ever-versatile half square block, ready to be put together in your favourite fabric.

What will we cover?

In this beginners’ quilting workshop, you will learn how to make half-square blocks for a quilt. Plus, we’ll be sharing general information and tricks of the trade about patchwork and quilting.

We will explore a range of design approaches that you can apply in creating your unique quilt designs. You will draw your creations onto A4 grids, and then you just need to choose your favourite fabric and you can make your beautiful quilt at home using recycled fabrics.

Who will be teaching?

Helen is a Melbourne based textile artist who designs and handcrafts contemporary quilts and homewares. Her designs are simple and stylish, made to compliment modern homes and lives.
She draws on traditional quilting and patchwork craft, with the eye of a contemporary artist. Each piece is an original work, using natural materials, hand-printed fabrics, patchwork appliqué and intricate quilting methods to create textiles that are at once practical, beautiful and beguiling.
