Drawing is one of the simplest way to create art, but many people feel uncomfortable to draw as they think they are “not good at drawing”, “not artistic” or “not creative”. Not True! Drawing is a pleasure for everyone to enjoy.
This engaging and dynamic class is all about the fundamentals of character design. You’ll learn how to create compelling characters by understanding concept development, shape language, proportions, color theory, and expressive details.
Through hands-on exercises, you’ll bring your unique character to life, exploring how backstory and personality can be visually represented.
What will we cover?
In this class we will cover the essential elements of character design, including:
- brainstorming character concepts
- exploring shape language and silhouettes
- understanding proportions and anatomy
- applying colour and textures
- conveying personality through facial expressions and body language.
- Each section includes practical exercises to help you apply these concepts and develop your own character design.

Who will be teaching?
Pouya (he/him) is a professional visual artist, teacher and designer based in Melbourne and known for his chill, fun, and engaging teaching style.
Pouya creates a welcoming community atmosphere even in single-session classes. His approach ensures that everyone feels comfortable and safe to explore their creative potential through learning.
