Have you heard of Inktober?
Inktober is a drawing challenge that takes place worldwide every October: one ink drawing a day, for one month!
Created in 2009 by an illustrator (Jake Parker) as a challenge to improve his inking skills and develop positive drawing habits, it has since grown into a worldwide endeavor with thousands of artists taking on the challenge every year.
Each year, a series of drawing prompts for every 31 days is revealed – getting thousands of drawers of all levels working on the same subject every day!

Emilie will be running Inktober classes throughout the whole of October!
Come to one or come to them all!
Every class we will tackle one of the daily prompts.
You can also take the challenge as a half-marathon and do your drawings every second day, or as a 5K run and do one drawing a week!
All skill levels encouraged!
What will we cover?
In the class you will:
- Learn tips on getting started and selecting the best material for the challenge.
- Learn foundational ink drawing skills
- Get started on the next drawing prompt
- We will also go through the next prompt of the week brainstorm techniques to get you thinking about the next one!

Who will be teaching?
Emilie (she/her) is a Melbourne based artist and educator, working across media with a focus on community-based practice and education. She graduated from her PhD in Fine Arts at the Victorian College of the Arts in 2020 and has been an art resident at Testing Grounds (2020) and the Comic Art Workshop (2021).
Emilie moved from France in 2014 and has been developing her art practice in Melbourne since, exhibiting her works at FortyFive Downstairs gallery, the Abbotsford convent, No Vacancy Gallery, Arcade and George Patton Gallery. Emilie is also a comic book artist and her illustration has been published by the Lifted Brow and she self-published her first graphic novel in 2018 with Tree Paper Comics in Melbourne.
In 2021, Emilie opened Couleur in Collingwood, a printmaking studio focusing on DIY, hand-prints, and experimental printmaking.
