What’s it all about?
Are you ready to set your imagination loose and make monsters?
This class will combine some free-wheeling doodling, with the principles of good creature design – an art form that is utilised in much of today’s media, from video games to movies to comics.
The realm of fantasy has been a very human fascination since the dawn of time; it allows us to dream, to create, and to live in our perfect idea of reality. This class aims to teach the basics of how to create interesting and realistic creatures individual to you. There will be drawing involved, though drawing skill level shouldn’t be an issue – as long as you’re not afraid to let your imagination run free!
What will we cover?
We’ll cover some of the basics of creature design:
What makes a mythical creature believable as real? The basics of physical attributes and their purpose in the world
What design clichés to avoid
How to design your own creature from scratch – what steps to take to get the desired end result
And, of course, we will do a lot of drawing along the way.
