Papier-mâché means crushed paper in French but this technique has its origins in ancient China! It’s a craft that uses old paper, newspapers, magazines, etc cut in stripes and bound together with a flour glue. If the paper is pulped it’s considered paper clay and id there is reinforcement with fabric or boiled cardboard it’s called Carton-pierre.
It can produce large but light objects in all sorts of shapes and it’s quite inexpensive and fun to make.
In this class we will start the base for a giant paper donut (please note that for the icing and sprinkles you’ll need to book for the next class at 7.45pm – paper clay)

What to bring?
Please bring along a plastic bag to take your donut and if you are also joining the paper clay class a container to take home some paper clay.

Who will be Teaching?
Maria (she/her) is a serial crafter. She loves learning about new crafts and techniques! She does crochet, macrame, sewing, pottery, weaving and likes to explore how these crafts can be combined and expanded.
In addition to plants and crafting, she also has a passion for cooking and baking, light painting and running Laneway Learning.
