What will we cover?
In these classes you will learn some basic steps and choreography of the traditional dance forms from Hawai’i (Hawaiian Hula), Tahiti (Ori Tahiti) and Sāmoa (Siva Sāmoa).
You will learn the graceful hand, arm angles and fluid hip motions that portray aspects of nature, such as the moonlight, a tree swaying in the breeze, or a feeling such as love or nostalgia.
What you will need
– Feel free to bring a surong!

Who will be Teaching?
Alarece (she/her) is a Polynesian performing artist specialising in the traditional dance forms of Hawai’i, Tahiti and Sāmoa. Over the years, Alarece has performed at various festivals such as Moomba Parade, Miss Sāmoa Victoria and featured in Te Vaka’s (Moana Soundtrack) music video ‘Laka Laka’ representing Hawaiian Hula.
When not sharing her love for her Polynesian roots through dance and song, Alarece enjoys training in brazilian jiu jitsu, being at the beach, and contributing to great patient care at the Royal Children’s Hospital.
