What’s it all about?
Are you constantly worried about what will people think of you? Are you a people pleaser? Do you pretend that everything is alright with you even though it isn’t? Do you try hard to “keep it together” and “fit in”?
You are not alone.
In this class we will discover why we do all these things and where the motivation comes from. Plus, we will discuss the destructive consequences of these behaviours and a few ways that you can use to start feeling more at peace.
What will we cover?
In this class we will talk about the erroneous belief most of us carry: “if I look, live and do everything perfectly, I can avoid or minimise the painful feelings of shame, disappointment, judgment, criticism and blame.”
We will also learn the antidote of perfectionism – self-compassion and human connection – and how to integrate these into our lives.
This workshop is based on the work of Brene Brown and Ben Shahar.
Who will be teaching?
Jossy has an MA in human development and is a graduate of the Mindfulness Certification program at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and Mindful Schools. She also has training in mindfulness-based stress reduction from UCSD (San Diego), cultivation of compassion (Stanford) and the science of happiness (Berkeley). She has lived and studied in the Omega Institute, NY and shares her work in different parts of the world, mainly the USA, Mexico and now Australia.
