What’s it all about?

Contrary to popular belief, screen printing doesn’t require expensive equipment and hours of training.

In this introductory hands-on print-fest, Eleanor from the local studio Kick and Screen will bring screen printing to the people, giving you all the practical tips you need to take it further, plus a very handsome and newly printed tote bag.

What will we cover?

In just an hour and a quarter, you’ll learn a good bit about screen printing, most importantly how to print stuff in practice.  The stuff you print on will include an organic cotton Laneway Learning tote bag to take home with you.

This is a loose agenda for the class:

  • Screenprinting history
  • Tools: squeegees, inks, substrates
  • Intro to Riso screens and artwork preparation
  • Printing
  • Introduction to multiple coloured prints including demo
  • Clean-up
  • Hand out, including local suppliers list

Who will be teaching?

Eleanor from Kick and Screen.

And who are Kick and Screen? “Kick and Screen is a Melbourne based boutique screen printing studio, and by boutique we mean small, which is just how we like it. Staying small means we spend less time shuffling paper and more time doing what we love. The Kick and Screen studio accepts large and small volume production runs which we screen print with love and attention to detail, reflecting the pride we have in our workmanship. Because we’re the caring, sharing kind, we provide professional grade supplies, top-notch advice and host screen printing workshops at our studio in Fitzroy North and around Melbourne.”
