What’s it all about?

Do you feel that stress has become an inherent component of our modern living? And that we are living in an overly serious world?

Many of us have become so accustomed to the process of constant doing, striving and competing, that we seem to find more comfort in always busy doing, instead of simply being.

Are we human ‘being” or human ‘doing?

The reality is that often we cannot change many stressors in our lives – you may be working in a high-performing job or demanding environment, raising a family or juggling multiple duties. However, we can train our brains and cultivate a different response to stress. It provides our minds with an alternative perspective. One that is more light-hearted, more positive and has more emotional awareness.

A new well-being approach: we laugh, play and meditate!

What will we cover?

You are invited to join us at Laughter Zen Playshop (yes it is not just another standard ‘workshop’). We will combine laughter yoga, imaginative play and creative meditation into one fun and reflective session.

Laughter yoga is an aerobic exercise that uses voluntary and intentional laughing (without jokes) as a means of exhaling. This process clears the stale air in our body, making space for fresh oxygen. You are encouraged to dispense any pre-conceived ideas about when and how to laugh. Be more present and willing to engage your childlike imagination to play.

We will finish the playshop with a guided meditation. This will allow the joy of laughing to be grounded deeper in your body, and make a deeper connection with ourselves.

At its core, Laughter Zen Playshop synthesises wisdom from ancient Eastern philosophies (Chinese Taoism, Buddhism and Indian yogi traditions) and new discoveries from Western science (such as neuroplasticity). It empowers others to create more positive thoughts and emotional responses through simple acts of laughter, smiling, play and meditation.

Who will be teaching?

Elva Zhang is the founder of Peace Lab, but she prefers to call herself the ‘Chief Experimenter’, since it is a ‘Lab’ after all. It was created to provide a new way to counter stress, cultivate well-being and build stronger connections with ourselves and with others.

Elva is a lawyer by trade, who used to be SO serious! Peace Lab was therefore born out of her own experiences dealing with stress, anxiety and negative self-talks. But now she feels very lucky that she can share peace and joy with others through her creative project of Peace Lab, while still being able to use her intellectual brain by working as a lawyer. You can connect with Elva by visiting her website, Instagram and Facebook.
