What’s it all about?
From ornate robes of European aristocrats to contemporary jewellery and decorative projects, soutache embroidery remains a distinctive, unmissable style, defined by its soft swirly lines and lush use of colours.
What will we cover?
In the workshop, you’ll learn the basics of soutache embroidery – the rules regarding choice of cords and threads and the techniques to sew cords together, to add beads and to design your own soutache. You’ll follow a project that will enable you to get familiar with most often used soutache tricks, but the choice of colours will be up to you!
Who will be teaching?
Karrie is a self-taught jewellery designer who has recently moved to Melbourne to develop her creative writing skills. This will be her second class for Laneway Learning.
