What’s it all about?
Sujani is a type of Kantha embroidery practiced in Bihar region of India, often as a quilt-making technique. Swathes of old saris and dhotis were sewn together using a simple running stitch, creating images and designs with the stitches as a way of documenting and telling stories.
Come and learn how to tell your own stories through sujani embroidery. Learn about the history of this technique, as well as traditional symbols and colours.
All materials will be provided. Basic sewing experience can be helpful but not necessary as the stitches are simple and easy to follow.

Who will be teaching?
Manjari (she/her) is a trained Fashion Designer with vast experience in Indian textiles and embroideries. After working in the fashion industry for over a decade, she has been running her own handmade children’s clothing label, Bubble For Poppet, for the past eight years.
