THIS CLASS IS PART OF MELBOURNE FASHION FESTIVAL’S FASHION CULTURE PROGRAM

Dressing or undressing? We often think of fashion as what we wear and put on, rather than what we reveal, uncover or take off.

If we think how far day-to-day fashions have changed over different eras, ages and locations, think of how far expressions of undress have changed, too, within erotica writing, strip tease and more across the ages.

Come and enjoy some alluring histories and ideas about undressing, as well as enriching discussion around fantasy, sexuality and the erotic.

What will we cover?

Within this vibrant class we will explore:

  • Histories of Erotica writing and Strip tease – changing fashions, presentations and gaze
  • The role of strip tease in socially supported and/or suppressed sexual expression
  • Discussion and sharing
