Have you ever wanted to spin some records on the DJ decks?

John and Bronte will introduce you to the basics of being a vinyl DJ. They will run you through the equipment, demonstrate some techniques, and throw in a lot of trivia along the way.

Then everyone who wants to have a go on the decks can spin a couple of records.

What we will cover?

– Equipment rundown
– Demonstrations of Cueing and Mixing
– The 3 Levels of DJism
– Hands-on practise.
– The 10 Commandments of DJing

What to bring:

– All equipment is supplied including records.

– But you can bring your favourite record if you like.

Who will be teaching?

For the last 16 years John Tait has been living his dream – running his own record store. When things were quiet, he would work on writing music related books: Vanda & Young; Captain Matchbox & Beyond; Tait’s Modern Guide to Record Collecting; and Astonishing Rock Trivia! His radio program is called “Mostly Vinyl”, 2pm Mondays on 98.9 North West FM. He has presented another class for Laneway Learning on The Secrets of Record Collecting.

Bronte Sommerfeld is a working DJ, playing pubs, clubs and functions. They learnt to DJ one afternoon and hasn’t looked back.
